Mini Entry

The 2020 Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon

The Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon won’t be taking place in its usual form in 2020 as we’re unable to hold the races in central London this year.

However, the good news is that – for one year only – we’re offering children up and down the country the chance to participate in the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon at their schools.

The challenge is for children to run, jog, walk or push 2.6 miles between Monday 28 September and Friday 9 October. To celebrate their achievements, all participants will receive an official Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon medal and certificate – all free of charge.

For further information, visit our 2020 Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon page.

Please note: The information below will be updated before the 2021 event.

How do I enter?

If you have seen the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon on TV or read about it elsewhere and want to take part, please read on to find out how to qualify...

Qualification

Each London borough, region and home nation has a Team Manager who is responsible for selecting a team to take part in the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon, which also doubles as the British Athletics three-mile road championships.

Teams are made up of 36 runners per London borough and 36 runners per region/home nation. Boys and girls race in three age categories – Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17.

There are six races in total. The British Athletics championship results will be compiled from the top four scorers in each region. London will have a team comprised of the top four scorers from the 33 London boroughs.

How do I get selected?

To choose a team, most Team Managers will arrange a trial at a local athletics stadium or park during the winter months.

Some Team Managers will use another method of team selection other than a single trial, basing their selection on how an athlete has performed in track athletics or cross country championships during the year.

If you would like to attend a trial or find out how to qualify, please check our trial listings and contact the Team Manager from your London borough, region or home nation.

Who can I run for?

London

If you live in London, you may represent the London borough where you live*, or where you were born or where you go to school.

*If an athlete is eligible to run for one or more London boroughs, and one or more team manager wants to select said athlete for their team, the athlete should run for the borough they live in, which will take priority over school, and birth place.

Regions/Home Nations

If you are from outside London you can represent an English region or home nation where you attend school, live or were born in.

Please check this UK map to see which English region your county belongs to.
