Overview

The 2020 Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon

The Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon won’t be taking place in its usual form in 2020 as we’re unable to hold the races in central London this year.

However, the good news is that – for one year only – we’re offering children up and down the country the chance to participate in the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon at their schools.

The challenge is for children to run, jog, walk or push 2.6 miles between Monday 28 September and Friday 9 October. To celebrate their achievements, all participants will receive an official Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon medal and certificate – all free of charge.

About Virgin Money Giving

Virgin Money Giving is the not-for-profit fundraising website from Virgin Money. It was created in 2009 following Virgin Money’s sponsorship of the London Marathon.

The aim back then, as it is today, is to make online fundraising fun, simple and more transparent. We wanted to give charities a fairer deal and make more of the raised money reach the good cause it was meant for.

Many people, including young children, take on amazing challenges and make great sacrifices to help the causes they care about. In the last five years we’ve seen little girls giving up their birthday presents to donate the money to children who don’t have families and a four-year-old boy taking on his first triathlon for a special care baby unit.

All these amazing challenges require significant personal sacrifice and determination, qualities shown in the young people who take part in the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon. There has always been a strong link between personal challenge and fundraising so sponsoring and supporting these young people who go on to become the athletes of the future felt like the perfect fit.
